A few thoughts from our Brother Thomas J Lee

A few thoughts from our Brother Thomas J Lee

“Marist is a state of life.” wrote Br. Thomas J Lee, who joined the Marist community after attending St. Anne’s High School. Br. Thomas Lee embodies the Marist spirit. His life has exemplified the spirit of community and brotherhood, the sense of togetherness not only within those in  religious life, but the global community. Marist have a unique call to transform thousands of  lives through education and spirituality, while energizing youth in their faith lives. Br. Lee answers this call and continually draws strength from his Marist community, “you become aware that the other men around you become your family, automatically.”

One of the most important aspects of being a Marist Brother per Br. Lee  is “practice what you preach.” Br. Lee expressed that often Marist find themselves living the Mission abroad. He is most proud of the work done globally by his Marist Brothers who are often serving in places, “no one else will go.” Beyond the encouragement and strength he derives from his fellow Brothers, he noted that much of his spiritual faith comes from spending significant amounts of time in prayer. He enjoys a personal conversation with God and focuses on listening to the Spirit that guides us all.

As many Marist would agree, their passion for youth and helping them to enrich their spiritual lives, runs deep with Brother Lee. His advice to young people is to “learn as much as you can about the world around you, and look for the best in the world around you.” The youth mission of the Marist community brings forth a positive light of hope, a beacon for our faith to continue guiding us all. His wishes for people to know more about the Marist Brothers love of prayer life as a group. They stress praying as a community, large or small. This practice of serving and praying as a community has been a continued blessing for Br. Lee in his journey.

Thank you Br. Lee for all the blessings you have bestowed on so many in our community!
