Condolences

Condolence From: Kevin Walsh, Syracuse, NY
Condolence: Brother Julian , in his first year at Our Lady of Lourdes HS in
Poughkeepsie, was the mentor who also taught a class in which 9 or 10 of us received our first Ham Radio licenses. I was thinking of Br.Julian recently as I 'celebrated' my 50th year as a ham radio operator, a hobby that I have enjoyed since that December so many years ago. He was a fun person, a great and patient teacher, and I wish I had stayed more in touch with him. I am convinced that he contributed greatly to my career decision to go on and become an electrical engineer, and enjoy more than 40 years in that profession.
God Bless and RIP good sir, thank you for that simple nudge that you gave me that has meant so much to me and my family!!

Condolence: I called Lionel on his cell phone a few weeks ago, hoping to get his new address in New York. Earlier this year, he sent me an email, saying he had moved from Chicago to New York. A recent change in format of emails at Comcast made it difficult for me to retrieve the email. Any way, I was saddened to earn of Lionel's passing. I always enjoyed his visits to Methuen, Mass. I always admired and respected his work as a teacher and his devotion to his faith. I haven't seen him in a couple of years. But, I have fond memories and I will miss him. Every time he came y to visit, he would share some story about my grandmother and her family (his mother was as sister of my grandmother). We'd enjoy a beer and a nice meal over a pleasant conversation. I would look forward to his visits (twice a year, and in the end, just around the holidays). About three or four years ago, he stopped coming this way.
But I have some great memories. Particularly the lunches we shared at the old Green Barn. I miss him. But, I'm glad I got to share some time with him. A great guy. A wonderful human being, and somebody who was very committed to his faith, and somebody who made it his business to learn something new every day. I suppose that's why he was a good teacher.
God bless you, Lionel. You lived a good life.
