Brother Gus was my math teacher at Marist Brothers in Kobe Japan. I had a troubled home life, and he spend hours listening to me. He always seemed to have time for me, no matter what. He also taught me a lot about Christ and lived his faith. I felt I had someone who listened to me, and in his eyes, I mattered. Jump ahead many years, when I was 30, I returned to Japan. I had left my faith in Christ and I was living in a horrible lifestyle, and he knew it. But when he saw me, he opened his arms and welcomed me back. "welcome home!" he said. In him, I experienced God's unconditional love. And it was this that led me to start searching for God again. Jump ahead again many years, and I am today an Episcopal priest. Daily I thank God for sending me Brother Gus into my life. I had invited him to come and do some teaching (he loved to teach about Jesus) in my congregation.. We were talking about him coming to visit me here in Florida. He said he had a niece here.. and would love to come and visit and do some teaching.. We were speaking about possible dates, but I had a stroke.. and then, when I finally tried to get in touch with him, I learend that he was now in the arms of Jesus. He so loved Jesus. He was a father figure to me, and a good mentor. Thank you, Brother Gus for everything.. I am so looking forward to seeing you there in glory land when my time comes. Heaven is going to be even more special, because you are going to be there. Thank you for being the agent in restoring my faith in God.
