Giovannina (Anna) Zugale, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018. She was born May 20, 1927 in Cervinara, Italy to Carmine and Irene Clemente. In her 20s she traveled to the United States by ship through Ellis Island and was so excited and proud to become an American citizen. She immediately learned to read and write in English and made it a priority to learn how to drive. Anna loved the outdoors, gardening, cooking, investing in real estate and the company of family and friends. She loved to help others and give advice and had an uncanny ability to reach people of all ages in a deeply positive and profound way. She was an extremely intelligent, strong and independent woman and a positive role model for her daughters. She is survived by her daughter Irene Morfit, her son-in-law Jeffrey Morfit, her one and only grandson Christian Morfit, whom she loved deeply, her sister Lucia Clemente, and Lucia's children, beloved niece Maria Petrella, and nephews Dominic Clemente and Frank Clemente and several other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Pietro Zugale and her daughter Annie Zugale and will join both at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, New York. She is also predeceased by her brother Giuseppe Clemente. She will be deeply missed by family and friends and all who had the pleasure of getting to know her.
