Born Ponza, Italy, June 11,1920, It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father and grandfather Ivio Mazzella on March 17th, in his 97th year. He was a devoted husband to his beloved sweetheart, the late Isa Mazzella; loving father of Mary Sue [Biaggio De Rosa], Dr. Loraine Mazzella [Dr. Giuseppe Maiolo], and late son Mark Ivio. Cherished grandfather to Michael [Isabel ], Ilario [Josiane] and Giancarlo. Ivio served his country in the Aleutian Islands campaign during WWII. A faithful Catholic devoted to Our Lady of Mont Carmel. Always cheerful and loved to tell jokes his joyful presence will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 2-5 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10 AM at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Church, City Island, NY. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY.
