I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of this incredible, wonderful woman who, when I was a very young child, was like a second mother to me. My earliest memory of her was when I sat in a wading pool with Lisa, probably no older than 3 or 4, and she showed us how to make "waves" with the water. That was probably my first practical life lesson! She embodied warmth and love and was everything a mother should be, always making me feel loved when I didn't feel loved by my own mother! She was the arbiter of diplomacy, too. Young children can get competitive and Yolanda would always make sure to say something nice, whether Lisa and other friends were playing a game or drawing pictures and wanted to know whose was better. She embodied the word "mother," not just to her own kids but to all of her children's friends, too. And I still remember her cooking — I loved her braciole — the first time I ever had anything like that — along with all the Chips Ahoy cookies she cheered me up with. A terrible, terrible loss.
