There are no adequate words to describe the love I have for my father.He worked hard his whole life so that I could chose a job I wanted not needed.He had no choice,he simply worked because whether he liked his job or not he had to provide for his family.He has given me so much,the love of music which ranged from Janis Ian,Elton John,Etta James,B.B King,Marvin Gaye,Little Anthony and the Imperials to the Latin greats Hector Lavoe,Ismael Rivera,Mango Santamaria,Cheo Feliciano,and Celia Cruz to name just a few.He was a proud Puerto Rican and loved where he came from.He adored his Mother&Father; and wanted to provide for his children in ways his parents were unable to. We talked about politics,injustice in the world,and his love of travel.He lived a good life seeing many concerts and plays.During these last few yrs we grew closer than ever having lunch outside and drinking coffee, which he loved with milk in the am and black in the evening,of course Bustelo.He was there for me whenever I needed him, never asking the reason just there. One time, when I was brokenhearted he took me to his alter and held me as I cried and said you will get through this and one day if God wants you will find the right person for you.Dad then blessed me and asked Papa Chango to remove the pain I was in.Knowing how much he loved me gave me the strength to endure.He was the first man I ever loved and only that has ever shown me unconditional love.I will cherish the moments he touched my face and said he loved me and I would say,"I love you too Daddy." But he would say,"I love you more." What I do know for sure is these last few months and weeks I have seen such courage and strength from a man who was always so independent try his best to endure the most difficult time in his life. I had the privilege and honor of being born to him and the moments we shared the last few weeks in his life will inspire and guide me forever.Papi,may you know that you are free to pass into eternal light free of ego-guilt, shame, fear,knowing that God and his Angels will be with you always.I will travel to the end of the time to be with you once again.You are simply my Hero, my love, my life,my everythingMay San Miguel protect you and keep you safe in all your travels and may you be surrounded by all your loved ones guiding you through this next phase of your existence.
