Obituary for Rozelle Zurita
Rozelle Forrest Zurita of Bronx, New York, peacefully passed away on January 24, 2023. Roz was born in Glasgow, Scotland and was the youngest child of the late Helen and George Forrest and sister to the late June Mayo. Roz left her beloved Scotland to immigrate to the United States, settling in New York City permanently having met her first love, Jerry, a Navy Veteran, the year before.
Spending most of her life in New York, she was a skilled hairdresser, until she married and started a family. She later began working in Manhattan with an investment bank as a financial clerk. A woman with a sense of humor, she loved to travel, experiencing new things, had a passion for animals and supported local charities when possible. Roz is survived by her daughter, Karen Zurita-Prout, her nieces and nephews – Bonnie, Donna, Scott and Stuart, countless extended family members, dearest friends and her partner of 30+ years Nicholas.
She will be missed by her clan and those who knew and loved her within the community. If you feel so inclined in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the U.S.O. and the ASPCA.
