Obituary for Raymond "Ray" Ruiz

Raymond “Ray” Ruiz, 63, of Bronx, NY passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

Born in New York, NY on February 19, 1958 to Elba and Ramon Ruiz, he was the youngest (and most tenacious) of three. Ray resided in The Bronx, which he affectionately called “The Boogie Down”, and briefly resided in Puerto Rico but caused such a scene the family returned to New York.

After working many years in the automotive industry he realized he wanted to be his own boss. In 1987, he opened Soundview Auto Parts and subsequently I&A Auto Parts and E-Z Auto Repairs.

Ever the car enthusiast, he was also a history buff and a star debater. Known for his quick wit, one-liners, barbecue prowess and mastery of the YouTube search function, Ray loved cheering for underdog teams and knew the pain of being a New York sports fan (Knicks and Jets.) He loved watching The Godfather and every WWII movie ever made. When he wasn’t busy working, he enjoyed spending time with his girls and his cars.

Predeceased by his mother, Elba, and his father, Ramon, he leaves behind his family who will miss him very much. He is survived by his daughter Idanise and her husband Jason, his son Elliot and his husband Bradley, his daughter April, his siblings Edwin and Jeanette, his granddaughters Elena and Emily, his grand-pets Liza, Kensington and Cali, nieces Alyssa and Roxy, many loved ones and his beloved ‘63 split window Corvette.

In honor of his life, donations to the American Heart Association are appreciated:
