Obituary for Mark R. Carozza

Kind. Generous. Reliable. Funny. Thoughtful. Memorable.

These are just a few words that describe Mark Carozza. He would have given you the shirt off his back and sometimes literally did. He always asked how everyone else was doing, offering to help - regardless of personal circumstances.

He is survived by his mom, Elaine, sister Laura (& Rob), brothers Ken (& Teresa) and Steven (& Sylvia); his beautiful nieces and nephews: Johnny, Carly, Grayson, Zoey, Charlie, Savannah and Mark. He is predeceased by his father, John.

Mark also leaves behind his daughter Emma and her mother Christine, stepdaughter Ashley (& Vinny) and two beautiful grandsons, Salvatore and Anthony.

He adored his family.

Mark loved being surrounded by love. He always reminisced about his childhood and St. Benedict’s friends and neighborhood kickball games. His happiest moments were spent with family and friends. As a child, he spent Sundays at Nana’s house for dinner, and playing with his brothers and cousins. His love of food remained with him into adulthood, and you might find him cooking something delicious to wow your palate. You could also count on him for a good one-liner that had you laughing for days (or possibly YEARS!). He enjoyed football Sundays with family and friends, weekends in Atlantic City with the guys, weeks in Long Beach Island, and the rare trip on an airplane to the Bahamas. Most of all, he held family in the highest regard, always prioritizing a holiday at Laura’s house over any other option, attending birthday celebrations and showering his nieces, nephews and grandsons with amazing and thoughtful gifts.

Emma was the center of his world. She was his every motivation and good intention. There is nothing like the bond between a father and daughter, but the incredible support network who surrounded Mark in his last weeks will be there for her forever. It is a substitute for sure, but one that strives to make him proud.

Friends from all walks of life - childhood in the Bronx, Country Club, Mount Saint Michael Academy, Iona College, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Coastal Paint customers, Emma’s friends and their families – Mark has touched everyone in a different way. Please share a thought or a story on the tribute wall. There is no greater comfort than knowing those amazing pieces of his life.

Rest peacefully, Mark. Watch over us in spirit as you did in life. We love you always.

MEMORABLE.
