Obituary for Lyn Michael Randall

Lyn Michael Randall was born on October 17, 1956, to Ann Mabray and Linwood J. Randall at Mother Cabrini
Memorial Hospital in Washington Heights, Manhattan. He was raised by his father Linwood, along with his
aunts and cousins, who were more like his siblings in Jamaica, Queens New York.
While growing up, Lyn enjoyed spending time with his family, and participating in family events. He attended
Jamaica High School, where he continued to cultivate his love for electronics, computer technology, cinema,
music, and martial arts. Lyn eventually became a professional percussionist with the ability to play over 20
African drums and performed for various African dance groups.
After attending Jamaica High School, he joined the “Cobras Motorcycle Club.” While being an active
participant, he traveled throughout the country and Canada. In 1978, Lyn and his best friend and club mate
James McCoy created a disco music club promotion group called The Lyn-Kat Experience. This company
performed at various motorcycle meet-ups and clubs along the East Coast and throughout the Midwest. During
that time, he met his first love Diana, while shopping for a pair of Levi’s jeans on the Jamaica Avenue shopping
strip.
As their relationship progressed Lyn decided to enter the security industry and become a professional guard.
Two years later, the couple welcomed their first child, Nicole Marie Randall. A few months later, they decided to
relocate from Queens to the Bronx. In 1981, they welcomed their second child, Lyn Michael Randall Jr. Although
Lyn and Diana’s relationship eventually ended, they remained best friends and effective co-parents to their
children.
In 1990, Lyn met Zolia who already had two sons Sandy and Wilson from a previous union. Lyn brought their
two families together and eventually became a blended family. Unfortunately, after fighting her battle with
cancer Zolia passed away in 1994. After Zolia’s passing, Lyn lost touch with Sandy and Wilson for nearly over a
decade.
In 2009, Wilson reunited with Nicole while she was expecting a child through their Facebook social media
accounts. Naturally, Lyn was ecstatic to finally have the opportunity to reconnect with his stepsons. Shortly
after, Lyn welcomed his grandson Darien Randall in 2010.
After Darien was born, Lyn decided to retire from 40 years of service in the security industry in order to assist
Nicole with raising him. Lyn enjoyed every moment with his grandson while they participated in many
adventures and travels. Darien was always the topic of discussion while speaking to anyone who would listen.
On October 16, 2020, the Lord called Lyn back home to his kingdom. He is survived by his children Nicole and
Michael, his grandson Darien, his stepchildren Sandy and Wilson, his first love Diana and her daughter Zoey,
whom he loved as his own child, his godson Elijah and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and
other extended family members and friends.
