Jorge “Jorgie” Luis Ortiz was born Dec 17, 1941 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico to Juana Alberta Ortiz and Lorenzo Ortiz. He was the 8th of 9 children. Theirs was not a life of luxury but they were sustained by the love they shared for one another and the guiding hand of God. In 1960, Papi joined the Army at the young age of 19. He was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1962. Several years later he moved to Brooklyn, NYC where he lived with his brother Jesus and sister in law Sonia. It was here in New York where he met Lydia Lopez to whom he was engaged in 1968 and then married in 1969 and they were blessed with a daughter Keila a couple of years later. Jorgie was a devoted and caring father, friend, and grandfather. He shared his wisdom and street smarts with his family and doted on his grandchildren. He leaves behind 4 siblings, Jesus ,Paulita , Iraida , and Rosin . He also leaves his one and only daughter, Keila, who blessed him with 4 beautiful grandchildren, Kiara (28), Michael (27), Nicholas (Gabriela)(23), and Brooke (8). He lived life on his terms and he never left his family without until the last moments of his life. We will miss you and pray you are resting in
