Felícita (Fela) Álvarez-Blanco, also known as Mama or Patitta to her close friends and family, was born on April 29, 1933 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Eufemio Alvarez and Aurora Badillo. She is survived by 9 siblings: Margarita, Maricel, Miriam, Aura, Anthony, Sammy, Hilda, Maria, and Israel; her daughter, Vivian Blanco; her grandson and his wife, Adonis and Carmen Sanchez, and 3 great grandchildren, Jacob, Sean and Isabella.
Fela was the widow to Andres Blanco with whom she had 3 children, Linda, Vivian and a third Daughter who died after only 40 days in this world. Shortly after Andres passed, Fela came to NYC in the 1960s to start a new life with her two daughters. She was employed as a costume jewelry maker for approximately 30 years before she retired to take care of her only grandson, Adonis.
Fela cherished her family and loved to be at gatherings surrounded by her loved ones. She also loved to swim and listen to boleros otherwise known as old timers music. Above all else, Fela loved the Lord. She was a devout Christian, Tithing even until her last days. She will be very missed, but will forever be in our hearts.
