Obituary for Edward Clifton Ivey

Edward Cilfton Ivey of the Bronx, NY passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the age of 93.

Edward “Eddie” was born on March 1, 1928 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the late Walker Ivey and the late Geneva Hill. Eddie did not have the opportunity for much formal education. His strong work ethic led to him enlisting in the United States Army and serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

At some point he ended up in New York and spent several years working in the furrier business. Always one to strive to better himself he took the test for a trackman with the NYC Transit Authority. He worked there until his retirement in 1986.

Eddie loved traveling, spending time with “the love of his life” Shirley, his children and grandchildren. He was a god fearing man and was a devoted trustee of Eastward Baptist Church in East Harlem. Many will remember Eddie as being outspoken, stubborn, opinionated and an impeccable dresser. But most of all he will be remembered as being a true gentleman always willing to help others.

Left to cherish his memories are his longtime companion, Shirley Williams, his children; one daughter, Tanya Santiago (John) of Pelham, NY; two sons, Terrence Ivey (Diana) of Warwick, NY, Marco Ivey of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Natasha Hernandez, Amanda Andrews, Jazzmin Santiago, Christopher Ivey, Brian Ivey; great grandchildren, Xavier Miller, Josiah Miller, Maddox Andrews and Jordan Black; one sister, Almetta Ivey as well as a host of nieces, nephews and his extended family, Sharon Adams, Dakota Adams, Freddy Williams and Sheila Williams as well as a hosts of friends.
