Obituary for Donna D. Skeete

Donna Denise Skeete received her wings on Friday August 5, 2022, at the age of 67. She was a 46-year resident of Jamie Towers Housing in Bronx, NY.

She was born February 12, 1955, in New Rochelle, NY to her loving parents Lois and Otha Spruill, Sr.

Donna graduated from High School of Fashion Industries in 1973 and went on to attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice for three years majoring in Criminal Justice with the intention of working for the NYPD as a Police Officer.

On July 31st, 1976, Donna married the love of her life John B. Skeete, Jr., remaining by each other’s side until the day of her passing. Together they created countless memories and a loving home.

Donna had a successful career with 10 plus years of employment with NYC Bureau of Child Welfare (BCW) as a Social Worker. She was also a magnificent Salesperson and Independent consultant with several companies including Omni and Park Lane Jewelry companies, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Melaleuca Products and Enagic Water Products Supply Company. She also received numerous top Salespersons Awards.

Donna was very much involved with BCW that she served as a Representative for her local district DC37 Chapter. In her home community she was a Member of Moms-In-Motion with the K-Company Dance Program at Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.

She enjoyed many activities in her spare time to include sewing, which was her favorite pastime. She loved producing her own clothing from existing patterns. She mastered all the necessary skills to operate different sewing machines and modified clothing designs to her personal style.

Donna was a Fashionista being an avid shopper whether it was online or in person. Her favorite stores were J.C. Penny, Macy’s, Walmart, Sears, Burlington, and Marshalls. She was also a great bargain hunter too at discount stores like Dollar Tree and Deals.

Donna and John enjoyed watching television together, which her favorite genre being Police shows, especially “Law & Order” and “Blue Bloods”. Her favorite interests and hobbies were listening to music, cooking, and dancing. She owned a large collection of 45 and 33 rpm size record albums, along with numerous CD’s. Donna enjoyed all types of music especially R&B, Smooth Jazz, Gospel, and Pop Music from the radio. In the kitchen her favorite dishes to cook for her family was Southern cuisine.

She is survived by her loving husband John B. Skeete Jr., her cherished children Tory C. Skeete, Quiana K. Skeete, and the late Kia “Kesha” Spruill, her beloved grandchildren Alexandria Spruill, Michael Cook Jr., and Kaili Q. Haines and greatgrandchild Jordyn T. Spruill. Her loving sisters Odetta Spruill, Gloria Spruill, Calvette Spruill, Yashana Spruill and the late Beatrice “Sharon” Spruill. Brothers Dennis Johnson Sr., Lawrence Spruill, and Otha Spruill Jr., sister-in-laws Estelle C. Skeete-Brown, Varsha Spruill and brother-in-law James L. Brown as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Sisto Funeral Home, Bronx NY August 16 & 17. Interment to follow on August 17 at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx NY.
