Obituary for Dawn Lynn Howe

Dawn Lynn Howe was born on October 10, 1975 in Corona, Queens and died on March 1, 2024 at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester. Dawn was predeceased
in death by her Father John, Mother Barbara and her brother John. She is survived by her elder sister Louise.

Dawn was definitely the light of everyone’s life. She was devastated at the age of eight by the unexpected death of her mother. She had three loving adults to take care of her.

Dawn graduated from Queens College with a degree in Communications and Business. She then began working at DNT Enterprise, a job she maintained until her death. She moved from Queens to the Bronx, where she became an active member of Throggs Neck Community Church. She faithfully served on the TNCC Official Church Council (Board of Trustees) as Secretary for a combined 8 years spanning multiple terms, from 2014 until her death. As Trustee, Dawn was instrumental in guiding the Board’s oversight of the church’s million dollar plus renovation project. While a trustee, Dawn also served as a dedicated Ministry Team Leader over National Girls Ministries from 2014 until her death. Hundreds of boys and girls were introduced to Jesus under Dawn’s tenure. Together with the team she led, NGM was an engaging, fun and Christ centered environment for many Bronx children during Friday family Nights. Dawn was often the first to arrive and the last to leave each Friday despite her difficult commute to work each day in Manhattan.

Dawn loved Disney World, Star Wars, the Rangers and the Mets. Dawn visited Disney World on multiple occasions as she loved it there, often accompanied by friends and their children.

We were already planning to attend the Parade when the Rangers win the Stanley Cup this year. Let’s go Rangers! Few people know how much she enjoyed writing. She has written volumes of stories with Star Wars as a theme.

Dawn was a kind and generous woman, always willing to help others. She believed deeply in God and the innate goodness of people. She will be missed by her surviving sister, Louise, her cousins, lifelong friends, the TNCC family and all the children she has touched through the National Girls Ministry.
