Obituary for Catherine Furio

Catherine Furio (nee Coiro) was born on March 13, 1933 in Harlem, NYC to Philip and Antoinette Coiro. She was the second daughter and along with her twin, Celestino (Tubbo), joined her brother Joe, sister Mary, and brother Dom into the family. The family was complete when Philip (Junior) was born a few years later.

Catherine was a devoted daughter and sister. She worked tirelessly to fulfill her role within the family and especially was hit hart at the age of 13 when she lost her older brother Joe (age 20) during combat overseas in World War II. The family would never be the same after this tragic loss of a beloved son and brother but they managed to strengthen their existing bonds and pull through as a family, Catherine is the last to join her family in heaven and the reunion must be a joyous one!

She met John Furio, the love of her life, at a dance in Manhattan. After a few years of courting, they married on July 2, 1960. They enjoyed a six month honeymoon in Italy and their love and devotion for each other lasted until the end. John survives her today and the loss of his soulmate is indescribable. Together they welcomed three children after five years of marriage, Colomba (Jamie Kampfe), Nicky (Heidi Furio) and Antoinette (Mike Ulrich). For Catherine, the sun rose and set upon her children and they felt equally blessed to be born to a devoted and loving mother. Her most cherished role in life was grandmother to her six loving grandchildren, Josef, Ariana and Harrison Kampfe, Giancarlo and Nicholas Furio and Isabella Ulrich. Her life lessons will never be forgotten and her loss is heartbreaking to her family.

Catherine enjoyed many of life's blessings surrounded by a wonderful family and many beloved friends through the years. She was devoted to her family throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking and baking and her table was always full with good food, loving family and friends as well as wonderful memories.

All who knew Catherine were drawn in to her endless warmth and compassion. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

"Our minds will still talk to her, our hearts will still look for her but our souls know she's at peace."
