Obituary for Anna Maria Anderson

Anna Maria Anderson, 91, was an amazing woman. Though small in stature, she was as big as a redwood tree in spirit. She worked for and retired from The NYC Board of Education as a school aide at Adlai Stevenson High School for 17 years. She loved her job and her co-workers and they loved her back. After retiring she settled in Boca Raton in Florida near a canal, so her husband could keep an eye on the alligators. However, Anna Maria was just happy to be near her daughter and grandchildren in a warm climate. She absolutely loved babies and gave a present to anyone she heard that had a baby. She loved weddings and a party and we affectionately called “Party Girl”. She loved to sew and made dresses, even slipcovers for her sofa and chairs. She was the quintessential cat lady, particularly Persian cats.. However, Anna Maria’s expertise was cooking. She enjoyed cooking for us and many people. On Sunday mornings she would make a big pot of tomato gravy with meatballs and sausages. She always said short sausages were hot and the long were sweet. Also, she was legendary at making spinach pies. Anna Maria was predeceased by her husband Carl in 2009. She will be sorely missed by her children, Joanne Aloi (Florida), Toni Anne and Ron Agnese (New Jersey), Jim Anderson (Connecticut), Carla and Robert Rota (Texas); her grandchildren Michael and Patricia Luceri, Jeanine Luceri and Jessica Colon, Laurie Anne Agnese and Korneel Van de Broek, Christie and Matthew Jordan, Carly Rota, Robert Rota, Jimmy Anderson and Zachary Anderson; her great grandchildren, Angel, Elijah, Josiah, Mikey, Hanna, Luca, Vincent, Adriana, Giovanni, John (JR) and Giovanni. She was loved by all of us!
