Obituary for Alberto Nieves

Alberto” PaPo”Nieves born on January 15, 1956. Father Monserrate “ Moncho” Nieves and Mother Paulina Nieves.

Alberto graduated from Cardinal Hayes High and Herbert H.Lehman College with a BA degree in psychology. He entered the New York City Police Department in 1981 and assigned to the 24th Precinct. He was promoted to Detective in 1989 and served in the Career Criminal Investigations Unit. Special Investigations Division Kidnapping Recovery Team and Juvenile Crime Squad. Alberto was an exceptional investigator with meticulous skills. He was awarded numerous department awards along with two Chief of Detectives awards. He responded to the attacks of 9/11/2001 and suffered with 9/11 related illness. Alberto passed peacefully surrounded by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday August 9, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 PM. A Prayer service will take place at 7:30 PM on August 9, 2019. Funeral service Saturday August 10, 2019 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home . Cremation to follow at Woodlawn Crematory at 10:00 AM.
