Memories at 2047

My mother-in-law, Nina, was wonderful to me. She taught me how to make some delicious dishes. We had many laughs and shared many wonderful occasions together. I loved her playful personality. She also, very graciously, allowed me to marry her wonderful son, David. I''ll never forget Wednesdays and Saturday dinners, opening her front door and being hit with the aromas of that evening's meal - fried chicken, or meatloaf, or steak and onions, rice and beans, and a full spread of salad, potato salad, cabbage, asparagus...my mouth waters just thinking about it. As we would walk in, we could immediately hear her singing, sometimes a song from church, and sometimes a merengue. Dinner was always filled with conversation about family, hilarious jokes, or a quirky riddle. Wednesdays and Saturday's at Nina's house were always filled with food, family, and fun, and remembering those days with her will always make me stop, smile, and be thankful she was in my life. I love you Mom, Chiqui.
