Obituary for William McHenry "Tony" Johnson
William McHenry Johnson was born April 22, 1941 in Rapides 9th ward, Pineville Louisiana to the late William McHenry Johnson and Martha Johnson.
Affectionately known to everyone as Tony.
As a young boy his mother moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he graduated from Boys High School.
He met and married Margie Bamburg. From this union one child was conceived; Wanda Kim Johnson. Margie preceded him in death.
He later met Nettie, in which two children were conceived, Toni Monique Johnson and David McKinley Johnson.
Living life as a free spirited, his love for music kept him on the road traveling. He enjoyed singing, playing instruments and poetry. His fondest memories include attending Woodstock, playing in a band with Ritchie Haven and appearing on the Johnny Carson Show.
He later married Bernice who also preceded him.
Tony suffered a heart attack on February 20, 2018 with his special friend, Maryanna Hatchett by his side. After a short battle in ICU he transitioned on Friday March 9, 2018 while in Saint Barnabas Hospital.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children Wanda, Toni, David and Stepdaughter June. 9 grandchildren; Chris, Sheila, Tywanda, Shanique, Malik, Ieasha, Ashley, Dashay and Justin. 13 great grandchildren, a host of cousins and dear friends.
