Obituary for Alberta Hundley
Alberta Hundley was born on November 2, 1923 in Jennings, Louisiana to her parents Noel Norman Sr. and Blanche Broussard. Alberta was one of nine children all of which have preceded her in death except one brother, Ernest.
Alberta’s father was a sharecropper and her mother a seamstress. Her family eventually moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana where her mother died from pneumonia. Alberta being the oldest female child assumed her mother’s role and helped to raise her siblings. Alberta loved living in Lake Charles, LA.
Alberta met Alfred L. Hundley Sr. in 1942. Alfred was a soldier stationed in Louisiana. Before being shipped off to WWII in Europe, Alberta and Alfred married. Her husband sent her to live with his parents in Red Bank, New Jersey once he learned she was pregnant. Shortly after their first child Judy was born, Alberta moved to Harlem, New York.
During the early 1950s, Alberta and Alfred moved to the Bronx, New York where they raised their five children. Together they work hard most of the times two jobs with the objective of giving their children the best education and opportunities that they never had. Even after Alfred’s untimely death in 1975, Alberta made her children the number one priority.
Alberta loved her family and was a loving friend to many, young and old. She cherished her relationship with God and attended church every Sunday. Alberta was always willing to help her family and friends whenever she was needed. Alberta’s love was always true and unconditional.
Alberta is survived by her brother Ernest, daughter Sheila, sons Alfred Jr, Gary and Michael; daughters-in-laws; Brenda, Gigi and Venise, son-in-law Richard Scott, and seven grandchildren as well great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
