Karen Ann (Brogan) Nohilly, age 73, of Irving, Texas, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, in Plano, Texas. She was born January 28, 1944, in Albany, New York, to Andrew and Virginia (McGreevy) Brogan. Karen married William Joseph Nohilly in The Bronx, New York, on December 26, 1964. They were happily married for 53 years, having met at age 14.
Karen became a teacher’s assistant for Special Needs students. She gained great satisfaction from seeing others learn, develop, and achieve their goals. She devoted time to others in need, not only as a career, but also in her faith and community. Karen volunteered anywhere she saw a need. She taught religion classes, provided administration support, and contributed her vocal talents to the church choir. She loved her faith and always heard God’s call in each loving act that she performed.
Karen is survived by her husband, William ‘Bill’ Nohilly; her children, Ginny Milich and husband, Lou, of Frisco, Texas, and Marty Nohilly and wife, Kara, of Berkeley Heights, NJ; her mother, Virginia Brogan of The Bronx, New York; her grandchildren, Karen Milich and fiancé, Chance Cross, Louie Milich, Chrissy Milich, Andrew Nohilly, and Patrick Nohilly; her sisters, Ginny Hill and husband, Charley, of Hempstead Long Island, New York, Rosemary Sullivan and husband, Thomas “Son”, of Mahopac, New York, and Patricia Gannon and husband, Mike, of Scarsdale, New York; her brothers, Andrew Brogan and wife, Jane, of Yorktown Heights, New York, and John Brogan and partner, Arlene Sabo, of Wappinger’s Falls, New York; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Brogan.
Viewings will be at Sisto Funeral Home, Bronx NY on Sunday January 7th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial is being held at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Bronx, NY on Monday January 8th. The Mass will be followed by a brief internment service at Woodlawn Crematorium, Bronx NY; with the final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery.
