Obituary for Jerry Gerardi

Born in Brewster, NY on March 27, 1926 to Jane (Nole) and Daniel Gerardi. As a young boy, Jerry worked in his father’s Latticini store on 187th Street in the Bronx.
His entrepreneurial skills became ignited. At 12 years old Jerry crafted a professional shoe shine box and set up shop on the street corner on 187th Street. One day a skinny kid from Hoboken came by for a shine, it was Frank Sinatra!
Jerry also took on 2 more part time jobs delivering bread and eggs for local area merchants; all while attending school full time.
Jerry served his country honorably in the pacific theatre of operations during World War II. He was a combat decorated infantryman.
Jerry met the love of his life Rosemarie Piscitelli, when he was 16 years old. Jerry and Rose married on June 25, 1949.
After the service, Jerry attended diamond setting school. He went onto become a successful diamond setter and jeweler. Jerry eventually established himself on 47th Street’s Diamond District where he owned and operated his own successful business for over 50 years. Jerry never fully retired from the business life as he maintained a mobile jewelry customer base.
Jerry was a fourth degree past Grand Knight of the Mary Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus in the Bronx. Jerry was also the successful and admired President of the AARP 603 Chapter in the Bronx.
Jerry and Rose were blessed with 3 loving daughters, “Jerry’s Angels,” Josephine, Marie and Diana. They were blessed with 2 beautiful and loving grandsons, Steven and Matthew.
Jerry was a friend to many people, some often referred to as “Father Jerry” by those he gave comfort and solace to.
No grass grew under Jerry’s feet. He was all about having a good time and enjoying life to the fullest, and he took everyone along on the ride.
Jerry had few regrets, and always said “Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think.” He lived his life his way.
Jerry was predeceased by his beautiful wife of 60 years. Also predeceased by his sister Christine and oldest daughter Josephine.
